Favourite songs underscoring fabulous stories.
Stories of people and their connection to community.
An immersive theatrical experience combining live music, video projection, visual art, and spoken word to share a Playlist of your town.
Joyous, Heartbreaking, Mischievous, Hilarious. Music to match the sentiment of the story. Sentiment indivisible from its musical score.
Playlist is a place-based arts activation centred on the stories of residents and visitors and their connection to the local area. The project is a new initiative of Queensland performing arts company Red Chair and follows other successful community arts-based projects we have delivered throughout the region over the last decade. The project is led by Artistic Director Andrew Veivers and Producer Angie Dunbavan and engages traditional custodians, local artists and community groups to create and deliver The Playlist.
The Playlist involves a 4 - 6month engagement in the community that culminates in an immersive theatrical presentation that utilises multi-genre artforms including film / photography/ projection and live performance (First Nations performance/choirs/local musicians).
The Playlist was piloted in 2022 in Coolum Beach with the support of Arts Queensland and the Horizon Festival. The project engaged over 120 members of the community and was performed to a full house receiving a standing ovation and rave reviews.
