Festival of Tibet 2015

Festival of Tibet 2015

January 19, 2015 - January 25, 2015
Categories: Festival, World

The seventh annual Festival of Tibet is a celebration of the resilience and optimism of a people and culture under threat. The all-ages festival explores themes of non-violence and compassion through a mix of free and ticketed concerts, exhibitions, discussion and workshops.

The Festival of Tibet also raises much needed funds for the Tibetan refugee community with all proceeds going to the Tibetan Children’s Village schools in India.

Jetsun Pema, lovingly known as ‘Ama la” (Tibetan for Mother) and younger sister of His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama, will be making her much anticipated return to the Festival in 2015. The highly engaging UNESCO medal winner and first female Minister of the Tibetan Government in exile will reflect on her experiences at a special not to be missed forum and concert.

This year, we only have half the quantity of seats available at Ama Jetsun Pema's talk with Meshel Laurie so get in quick!

The opening concert will feature the sublime international duo, Deva Premal and Miten presenting an evening of ‘Prayers for Peace’ in support of the people of Tibet.

Witness the creation of a spectacular Sand Mandala from millions of grains of coloured sand, learn to cook Tibetan dumplings, paint, meditate, contemplate and be swept up in beautiful music – the Festival of Tibet offers something for everyone.
