Kakehashi In Concert

Kakehashi, (bridge) is a transcendent musical offering bringing together master instrumentalists from Japan, Australia and the United States to create a sonic bridge across time and culture. This unique concert experience will feature virtuoso shakuhachi masters Seizan Matsuzaki (Tokyo), David Kansuke Wheeler (USA), Riley Lee (Australia), shamisen (Japanese lute) master Manami Ishida (Tokyo) and guitarist/composer Anthony Garcia (Australia). The program will feature an evocative selection of classical and contemporary works from the shakuhachi repertoire, a presentation and demonstration of the unique qualities and textures of each instrument and the premier of a new work for three shakuhachi’s, shamisen and guitar by Garcia.
