Port Fairy Folk Music Festival Turns 40!

The 40th Port Fairy Folk Music Festival story started in December 1977 when the festival came to town – it was literally on the back of a truck – as a freewheeling cultural freedom ride of sorts. In 2016 the festival will celebrate the 40th event as the achievement of community, volunteers, music industry, artists and staff along with it's passionate audience. Together participants become one amazing festival gathering singing by the oceans of the south-west coast.

Since its inception the festival will have presented around 3,500 acts including over 500 internationals and over 12,000 musicians to an audience of beyond 240,000 ticket holders and 1,000,000 attendances to the wee village of Port Fairy. With a wonderful array of artists yet to be announced the festival aims to explore and present the diversity and discovery of folk, roots and world music live on stage next March.

Some of the outstanding acts already announced include Kristina Olsen (CAN), Archie Roach, Katie Noonan, The Barleyshakes and Flamenco Fire!
