Favourite songs underscoring fabulous stories.

Stories of people and their connection to Coolum.

An immersive theatrical experience combining live music, video projection, visual art, and spoken word to share a Playlist of Coolum Beach.

Joyous, Heartbreaking, Mischievous, Hilarious. Music to match the sentiment of the story. Sentiment indivisible from its musical score.

About Playlist – Coolum Beach

Playlist is a place-based arts activation centred on the stories of Coolum residents and visitors and their connection to the local area. The project is a new initiative of local performing arts company Red Chair and follows other successful community arts-based projects we have delivered throughout the region over the last decade. The project concept has been developed in collaboration with independent Coolum based composer/director/musician Andrew Veivers.

There are several stages to the project –

The Collection – local artists (The Collectors) are collecting the songs (and associated stories) that local residents/visitors most relate to their “Coolum” experience - a favourite piece of music that connects them to place.

The Playlist – from the Collection, a playlist will be created and shared through various public formats. The playlist will be regularly updated as new songs and stories are collected.

The Performance – a selection of songs and stories from The Playlist will be included in a live performance at Coolum Civic Centre on Saturday 27 August as part of this year’s Horizon Festival.

How you can get involved?

Do you have a favourite song that connects you to Coolum Beach?

What’s the story behind that song?

We’d love to hear it.

Look out for The Collectors - Andrew Veivers, Peta O’Hara and Shannon Carroll – who will be out and about in Coolum throughout May OR submit your song / story here:
